Warm congratulations on the Hadassah Hospital Oncology Data Mart project for winning the 2025 Excellence in Computing Award in the Digital Transformation: Cross-Organizational Projects category.
Led by Dorit Tzur and Dr. Ruthi Lev-Bar Or from the Information Systems Division, Dr. Dorit Shemesh, Mazal Tov Maroani, and Michal Inbar from the Cancer Research Institute, and managed by Eldad Sharal, Director of the Computing Division, the project brought together data science, bioinformatics, and clinical expertise to transform a vision into a fully operational infrastructure. Special thanks also to Alfred Yom Tov for his significant contribution to the project.
The project was born from a unique collaboration between the Hadassah Cancer Research Institute (HCRI) and the Information Systems Division—two units that combined clinical and research knowledge with technological expertise to create a data infrastructure that is transforming the landscape of oncology care and research at Hadassah.
A significant part of this work was made possible through a grant submitted to the Israel Innovation Authority, led by Prof. Aharon Popovtzer and Prof. Shai Rosenberg, focusing on liquid biopsies—a groundbreaking technology for cancer diagnosis and monitoring through blood-based testing.
This infrastructure opens new avenues for research and development in AI-driven genomic medicine and personalized healthcare, while laying the foundation for strategic collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry and advancing precision medicine.
